What's the most effective way to loose weight?

I don't want to do anything in mainstream ( adkins, jenny craig, etc.) my mom lost a lot of weight and she's my size and now she's all like you've gained weight, and how i should loose. So not that i'm doing this for her but i just want her off my back, yet i'd still like to loose b/c i'm not completely happy w/ myself.

What's the most effective way to loose weight?
The concept of losing or gaining weight is simple. To lose weight, eat fewer calories than you burn each day. To execute is much more difficult. Most Americans eat much more in volume than they really need. For instance, if one eats 2 or 3 regular bowls of cereal with milk, then all the nutrients one needs in one day can be eaten at one meal. Most people are used to eating a 3 or more much larger meals. By doing this they stretch their stomach which in turn makes your body crave more volume. By slowly decreasing the amount of food you each at each meal, your stomach will shrink and it will take much less food in order to fill you up. Never eat beyond filling full. That will stretch your stomach and you will be hungry more often and it will take more food to fill you up. Eat to the point where the hunger pains go away. Switching to low calorie food helps too. Remember, moderation is the key.
Reply:eat less
Reply:walk and hit the gym and do small things at the gym that fill right to you.
Reply:eat less and move more
Reply:Eat healthy in amounts like those outlined in the Food Pyramid and walk each day..It's working for me.
Reply:Eat properly and exercise. Drink plenty of water, 8 8oz glasses per day. Cut out sweets and fried foods.
Reply:You need to eat smaller portions and exercise more. Walking is a great way, 30 minutes a day for the first week, then go up to 40 minutes the second week and up from there. You should start seeing results in the first two weeks. I walk 4 days a week for an hour each day. I started this last year and it works great. Remember to watch your portions. Eat like half of what you normally would. It will be hard but you can do it.
Reply:You can still eat all the foods you like just in moderation! You can create your own "diet"! I agree with the drinking lots of water! Make sure to excerise 3-5 times a week! My friend took up pilates and it has done wonders for her body, she looks amazing! If that's not your style, 30 sit ups a day has helped me to keep the body I love and I job 3-5 times a week! I'm only 20 but this is what I plan on doing in the future! Best of luck to you!
Reply:Simple: use more energy than you intake.

A fact that people don't seem to know: Muscle uses metabolism. Build a little bit of muscle, and it will help burn off the fat all by itself. You don't have to be buff or anything. It'll help you look leaner and feel leaner. With muscle, you can sit down and still be burning more calories than otherwise, and if you keep working out on top of that, even better.
Reply:Simple exercises does help such as walking, sit ups etc, but also drinking plenty of water makes you bloated there for you will not want to eat as much. Also if you don't eat breakfast, try to as it gets your metabolism to work faster for the rest of the day.
Reply:SPEED!!!!
Reply:Watch your calorie intake and make sure you exercise! Try to eat smaller portions and make sure you are eating good, healthy food. Get your protien so you have extra energy to burn! You can do it, you'll see a diference in one week!
Reply:eat less calories than you burn every day. Weight watchers is a great example of this.
