Birth control Question... ???

For over 4 years, I've taken Ortho Evra, the b.c. patch, and my doctor took me off of it b/c of all the side effects I started to have and the bad news feedbacks. He put me on Ortho-TryCyclen.. I have never taken the pill before and am very scared. He told me to try and take it the same time everyday.

Here's my problem, since it's the summer, I wake up at 7:30 for work... easily done--take my pill when I wake up, right? Well. in August, whenever my college reopens, would it matter if I start taking it at different times? For example, one day at 7am one day at 6am, etc? Please help me.

Also, how effective was the b.c. pill for you? My doctor told me that I HAVE to use a condom the first few months, my husband-to-be and I have not used in condom in years! So, just wondering about that too.

Birth control Question... ???
honestly an hour isn't going to really make a huge difference but the whole point of taking it at the same time everyday is to keep the supply of hormones on a steady stream without interruption or burps. if you start taking it at 730 in the summer, continue to take it at 730 even when you start college. set an alarm on your watch or cellphone to remind you. it really is important to get into the habit of taking it consistently at the same time because it keeps you from slacking off and thinking ok 1 hour won't make a difference then turns into 2 hours, 3 hours, etc. to the point you forget one day and have to double up making it less effective.

as far as the condoms, i highly recommend you do exactly what the doctor says. your body is adjusting to the hormones and you don't want to come up preggers while taking them because of the risks to the fetus. use them every time for at least 3 months in case you need to change formulas. go to costco or sam's club and buy the supersize pack and forget about it. it's better to be safe than sorry.

i've been using the pill for almost 20 years. the only issue i had was when i switched pills because my insurance changed which brands they would cover and i started getting nauseous from the new formula in the morning and started taking it at night instead. other than that, nothing.
Reply:As long as you take it at AROUND the same time, it will be fine. I think they mostly tell you that so you get into the habit and don't forget.

The pill is very effective, providing that you use it properly and don't forget it. You do need to use a condom for the first 3 months because it takes a while for the hormones to infiltrate your system, as they come in very small doses. After that, you can go without condoms as long as you always take a pill.

Just as a warning...if you go off the pill and don't use condoms, you will get pregnant very quickly. I was off the pill for less than 2 weeks when I got pregnant.
Reply:Taking it a couple hours off will NOT affect the pill. Also I have no idea why your doctor said to use a condom for a couple months, that is ridiculus. You should use a condom for the first week or two of the pill but you do not need to do it for a couple months. If taken correctly and you do not skip pills then the pill is over 99 percent effective at preventing pregnancy
Reply:First of all, I've been using the pill for over 25 years off and on, and have never had any problems (beside side effects which are correctable by changing formulations).

Next, if you take your pill EVERY DAY, you will be covered against pregnancy after the first seven days. Backup contraception is ONLY necessary if you miss 2 pills or more in a row, or are using antibiotics.

Finally, you can fluctuate your timing on the pill. It is BEST to take it about the same time every day, but you can go a few hours either way and there will be no harm.

Better paranoid than sorry, but the pill is pretty idiot-proof, as long as you take it EVERY DAY.

Good luck.
Reply:I hated the pill... you poor thing. How about the ring?? It has the lowest dose of medicines so that would mean the lowest side effects. As far as taking it at 7 one day and 6 another I would try and keep it 7 o'clock but an hour difference won't be THAT big of a deal. As far as using comdoms for a couple of months they told me only one month... or you can use a spermicide!?
Reply:Within an hour or two of taking it everyday should be okay. I dont know anyone who can actually take it at the exact time! I have my phone alarm set for 10:45pm every evening, but if I remember within an hour before or after I take it then and I have had no problems on the pill. I also had the problem with having to use backup protection for awhile, but I am on Orthotricyclen Lo and the doctors told me that I had to wait anywhere from 7 days to the time of my next cycle. I never had to wait 'MONTHS' so I wouldn't stress myself about it!

This seems like it is for a class so for the first question, it would depend on what you were taught because all four of those can be done by both primary and non-primary management.

For the second one, it seems like planning is the best answer.

For the third, it depends on what you were taught but C seems to be the best answer there.

For the fourth question, A seems to be best.

Reply:Suppose ENZ-1 and ENZ-2 are two different restriction enzymes. If various pieces of DNA are cut with either of these enzymes, which of the following cut DNAs would join together most easily to form recombinant molecules?

I think the answer is C.

When two same enzymes cut different fragments they generate same ends since they are the same enzymes. So, when you cut with 2 different enzymes you will never have LIGATION. So, cutting bacterial DNA and HUman DNA with the same enzyme (1) will result in ligation. In fact, this is what we use in labs.

It’s _______ to take measurements with the most accurate measuring instruments available.?

A. never better C. not cost-effective

B. always better D. sometimes better

It’s _______ to take measurements with the most accurate measuring instruments available.?
Answer is "C"

It’s not cost effective to take measurements with the most accurate measuring instruments available.
Reply:B always better
Reply:B
Reply:D. Sometimes it is necessary, but not always. Sometimes you just need an estimate. (Which bag of potatoes is heavier.)
Reply:D. There is no need to measure something with calipers when the tolerances are such the using a tape measure is accurate enough to measure. For example a part that has a spec of 4" +/- 1/4" does not require the use of calipers to be measured.

Answer needed on medical infection on an open wound. Staph? Strep?

this open, smelly, dripping wound on my lower shin bone hasn't cleared up in 3 weeks. Obviously infected , but what kind of germs ?? regular cleansing c H2O2 not effective. HELP???

Answer needed on medical infection on an open wound. Staph? Strep?
Hi Sandy, yes everyone is correct to say go see a doctor and you have... but that doesnt help you in the meantime to deal with a messy leg. Staphlococci is more than likely the germ as this lives happily on your skin..... and is annoying when it gets in somewhere it shouldn't!!

Cleaning in water isnt a problem in fact it will wash away the debris nicely. Adding a little salt to it ( a teaspoon to a pint ) will help it more. The basic principles of wound care is to keep the wound clean, moist and safe so it can heal. Commencing antibiotics is good to prevent the infection from travelling further (like into your bone). Anything topical over the wound will give minimal effect however there is a product you shoould be able to get over the counter called Betadine (povidine iodine). This is extremely strong on any open tissue so must be diluted ( half a teaspoon in a cup of the salt water). Betadine is a known antiseptic we use in hospitals. It has be proven to be effective against all known microrganisms when in contact with them for over 20 seconds. ( the tricky part is the concentration. ) If you put in on undiluted it does kill infection, but it will also damage the underlying tissue making the wound bigger.

Most wound care specialists have their own ways of treating wounds. Not having seen your wound, I would advise to clean with the salt mixture, then wash it again in the diluted betadine mixture, then cover it with any product that you can purchase over the counter at your drug store that will keep your wound slighlyt moist and protected (Comfeel and Duoderm hydrocolloid pads are good products).

Expect this wound to take longer to heal because you are on prednisolone. Not only does it make your skin paper thin but your healing time is delayed 2, if not 3 times longer.

Good luck.
Reply:Hello Sandy...this one SOUNDS like a Staphylococcal skin infection most likely, though it is not impossible for a streptococcus organism to secondarily infect an open wound either. Hydrogen peroxide, even when properly applied is not really meant to promote wound healing, per se, but simply to keep it cleanses, and slowly allow the wound to heal "from the inside out" to avoid pockets whereby abscesses can form! The sounds of your question imply that it now may well be time for an antimicrobial medication that is both an anti-Staph antibiotic that also covers strept!! GOOD LUCK and get that looked at by all means. Untreated wound infections CAN progress deeper...all the way to the bone in the worst case!
Reply:Go to the doctor.
Reply:probably a staph infection, but if it's been there for 3 weeks, you should see a wound care specialist.
Reply:Only a DR can tell you what it is. Go seek medical Atten: Now
Reply:Go to the Emergency Department of your local hospital, go right away. If you've had it for that long, you need antibiotics before you develop something worse like gangrene. You didn't mention if you are diabetic or not as this occurs frequently in poorly controlled diabetics and this kind of infection in a diabetic can lead to amputation if not promptly dealt with.
Reply:Go online and research olive leaf extract, grapefruit seed extract, and most especially colloidal silver at 500ppm. These are natural anti-virals/bacterials and have had great success by researchers. The silver alone can kill over 650 types of viruses, bacterias, yeasts, and fungi. It can be used internally and topically, remember they used to put silver nitrate drops in babies eyes when they were born? Good luck!
Reply:obviously the wound culture will show what is growing and what antibiotic is the best for your situation. H2O2 is horrible for wounds that are trying to heal. try dilute vinegar and very diluted bleach compresses. Two tablespoons per gallon of water. This should help with the topical infection.
Reply:First and foremost you should always consult with your doctor. It is probably a staph infection. There is a new strain of staph which is highly contagious, called MRSA- Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. A couple of antibiotics used to treat it are SMZ/TMP DS, and Cephalexin. An open wound requires special care. The open wound should be cleaned at least twice a day while there is pus.Deep open wounds can be irrigated with a syringe and a sodium chloride solution. The open wound should also be packed. Packing is done with iodoform packing strips. The packing helps absorb drainage and tissue that is not healing. The packing also promotes healing from the inside out. See your doctor regularly and don't miss any appointments.
Reply:the only answer i have to offer is go see your doctor. infections like the one you describe can be harmful. any medical conditions you may have may complicate things too. i think you best bet is to get to the doc.
Reply:sounds like a staph infection. A few years back I had a nice tumble down a hill of black lava rocks. Head over heals, yes this was in hawaii and my shin was punctured and cut over my entire shin. My friends disinfected it and actually scrub and cut out all of the lava rock. My imune systems is nil due to Hep.C. At first I thought my leg was healing since it was scabbing up slightly. Along with it being cleaned out, scrubbed and bandaged several times a day. A few weeks had gone by and the smaller cuts were just about healed but I had a huge hole the size of a silver dollar that just seeped and got worse daily. Then my leg was in severe pain,my shin bone was killing. I went to the doctor, general practisioner and pretty much told me to continue to treat it as i had been. Next faze was surrounding the opens wound my skin begane to harden and turn a dark purple/black.

It was maybe 6 weeks now and landed in the hospital from effects of liver failior and a nurse took one look at my leg and summoned a specialists. And yes it was a severe staph infection that was not healing it was infact spreading tremendiously. I thought i was doing right by seeing my doctor but obviously too much time had passed and the infection started to take over.

Please do not wait or second guess yourself as i did. It took me months to heal and was told if i had waited much longer I could of became severely ill. too this day the scar from the hole that would never heal is 2 inches wide and actually the size of a walnut in depth,do not settle for a nurse or doctor who seems unsure.Request for a specialist who deals with infectious wounds.there is not anything over the counter that will heal it or cure it if you do have a staph infection. Be careful and please tend to it immediately.

Alternative to Birthcontrol?

I want to stop taking birth control pills, I gag everytime I go to swallow them, they stick to my tongue and dont go down and are just a pain in the ***. I also have a tendency to forget to take them quite a bit. I also do not like the idea of putting these hormones into myself to disrupt the natural cycle of things. Besides using condoms, what could I do, to prevent pregnancy? I found this website www.sisterzeus.com and they mention Vitamin C? But how effective could that be? Anyone ever try it?

Alternative to Birthcontrol?
I was on the pill for years and same thing always remebering to take the darn thing. Well I discovered there is a shot. You get it every three months. The bonus thing about it, is your period stops. I have not had a period for over year. I will admit you have to do a little more excerise. They say on average a woman can gain five pounds a year. Good luck.
Reply:I HATED the pill when i was on it! It constantly made me sick, and I hated trying to remember to take it. I've been on the NuvaRing for 4 years now, and it's awesome! It is hormoal, but I have noticed I've had shorter periods and other stuff has improved. . . . I haven't heard of the Vitamin C thing. Hope you find what you're looking for!
Reply:Vitamin C is not a form of birth control. That is just silly.

Beside condom you could try the nuvaring or depo shot. Or perhaps the most effective birth control is not having any sex.

Anyway speak to your doctor about possible alternatives to the pill. But don't use vitimin C as a form of birth control.
Reply:Well i certainly would not count on vitamin c to do the job! Hell, if that were the case we'd have a lot less babies running around all over the place!

I'm kinda in the same boat you are because i don't want to put those hormones into my body, by i ABSOLUTELY don't wanna get pregnant! All i've really come up with are condoms of course and you can also use spermicide to decrease the risk, plus to be extra safe you could always make him pull out (that seems to ruin the moment though)..

You can also look into getting an iud which i hear are extremely effective.. for me though i don't like the thought well please please LET ME KNOW if you come up with anything else!!!

thanks♥

Ethnocentrism is one form of what communication?

a. problem oriented

b. neutral

c. certainty

d. effective

Ethnocentrism is one form of what communication?
Ethnocentrism is the tendency to look at the world primarily from the perspective of ones own culture.

I would go with C. Certainty

Why? because,The ethnocentric person will see those cultures other than their birth culture as being not only different but also wrong to a degree.

The ethnocentric person will resist or refuse the new meanings and new thought patterns since they are seen as being less desirable than those of the birth culture.

However even if they addopt the new culture and drop the birth culture are they then not say saying the addopted culture is superior to the birth culture? therefore taking a ethnocentric stand again with the new culture??

Will we not always feel that which we are or chose to follow is superior, better, right?

I would personally say it is a certainty.

Can someone please help me out with day care facility questions?
I really do not mean to sound rude but If I gave you the correct answers what would you learn. on another question of this type I was very brutal and up front . some of your answers are very wrong however if you return to your notes and book reread these important steps in the process and learn them me giving you the answer does not make you the best child care provider and the children would be the ones to suffer sry Im anm not trying to be rude but realistic if your career is in daycare you need to know it because you learned it not because someone told you. see my answers to this type of quetion. IF a child was ever hurt because of you not knowing something it would ruin you. The reason I assume you want this career is because you have an amazing heart and to have it crushed and broke because of a short cut would be ashame. Take the high and long road you will be glad you did and you will make a great care giver providing a SAFE SECURE place for our children because you cared enough to take the time God bless you for that.

What to do with noisy middle eastern neighbors?

ok, so I live in an apartment that is secure access. the same owners own the building next door - that lies east to west along my building. I'm annoyed with our neighbors - that live in the other building and speak arabic (or some middle eastern language). I have been woken up atleast once every two weeks (for the last 6 months) by them getting drunk, talking (well it sounds more like yelling because of the echo), and smoking right below our window (and A/C unit). My husband has told them twice (both around 2 a.m. by opening our window %26amp; saying polietly) to be quiet, that we have work tomorrow (like normal people). Should I write a letter to our apartment managers (who are an older couple %26amp; live in that other building)? or what can I do? - I'm very cranky because I was awake 1/2 hour last night listening to them %26amp; seeing the flash of their camera go off (%26amp; yes I have blackout curtains - we've just made an adjustment so the A/C can be effective). grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What to do with noisy middle eastern neighbors?
You can do couple of things:

1. One thing you can do is to bring them some sweets as Baklava as a peace offerings. When they get to know them they will make sure that they do not make so much noise.

2. Call Department of Homeland Security

3. Move out

4. Buy them a bottle of Arak or Ouzo
Reply:The fact that you mentioned your noisy neighbors as Middle Eastern makes me think that you are more annoyed with their non-English language than the noise itself.

If that's not the case, then treat them like you would a regular neighbor who happens to be noisy. Talk to them about the noise in the middle of the night. If that doesn't work, talk to management.

Everyone has a right to some peace and quiet.
Reply:If they wont listen to you make a complaint to the Noise Abatement local office. They can get fined. They will get a letter and then after that its court and a fine. You could also phone the police and they would go round.
Reply:yes, write a letter to your landlord expressing their bahavior,s next time they are loud, call the cops. this way they will be more respectful to people at late hours. sometimes people just dont think!
Reply:Talk to your owners.

Their ethnicity is completely irrelevant however. Their behavior is rude, it would not be ok if they were some other race.
Reply:Yes, write a letter to the manager or landlord detailing dates and times as accurately as possible and start keeping a log of noise violations. I'm sure your municipality has a noise ordinance. As previously mentioned, they don't have to be middle eastern to be loud and obnoxious. Also, check your lease agreement for noise and good neighbor clauses. Theirs has the same. Look for another place if it comes to it.
Reply:Yes, write a letter - but their ethnicity is irrelevent here, so don't mention it. It just makes you sound like a racist.
Reply:yes complain, but being middle eastern shouldnt have anything to do with it.they are noisy, thats the problem.
Reply:Ok that sucks for you but middle easterns are not like that! Middle Easterns are smart, make good food, host parties that are the ****! Myspace me I have a folder for the parties I go. I'm Iranian.

www.myspace.com/iggypoplovesskippy
Reply:Don't listen to the rest who say something negative just because you mention their ethinicity. They are wrong. Middle Eastern people are reckless-we are at war with them. They are big mouths and don't know when or how to shut-up. You have every right to use their culture here. If it was an Asian, and they do tend to be quite, I bet this wouldn't happen-notice I said *tend, never said they all were, so I am not generaliing! Yes, complain on those slobs!

1.resistors of 6 ohms and 18 ohms are connected in series to a 72 volt source find a) current through 6 ohm b)

current through the 18 ohms, c) and the effective resistance.

2. solutions for a, b, and c with a parrallel connection.

1.resistors of 6 ohms and 18 ohms are connected in series to a 72 volt source find a) current through 6 ohm b)
Series:

Add up the restance.

Rt = (6 + 18) ohms

Rt = 24ohms

V = IR

V/R = I

a) I = 3 amps

Current at R1 = Current at R2 in series.

b) I = 3amps

c) Rt = 24 ohms

Parallel:

Voltage at R1 = voltage at R2

a) V/R = I

72/6 = 12amps at the 6ohm resistror

b)

72/18 = 4amps at the 18ohm resistor

c)

Rt = 1 / (1/R1) + (1/R2)

Rt = 1/ (1/6ohms) + (1/18ohms)

Rt = 1/ (2/9ohms)

Rt = 9/2 ohms

Rt = 4.5 ohms

Shortcut for two:

Rt = (R1 + R2) / (R1 x R2)

a) current through 6 ohm = 72/(6 + 18) = 3 A

b) current through the 18 ohms =

72/(6 + 18) = 3 A

c) the effective resistance = 24Ω

2.

a) current through 6 ohm = 72 V/6 Ω = 12 A

b) current through the 18 ohms =

72/18 = 4 A

c) the effective resistance = 72 V/16 A = 4.5Ω

a friend of mine confessed that she can't enjoy summer..why? well there are some things that's stopping her from wearing those sexy clothes..1st.she got a dark underarm..she soesn't know why that happened..2nd.she got acne marks on her top back..3rd.her bikini area is a bit dark and last, she got stretch marks on her bum..w/c all is very far from her usual skintone..she's a very nice lady and she's wondering how to solve these problems..as a friend,i want her to enjoy her summer and feel good about herself..recommend any home remedies w/c are really effective on solving problems 1-4 all in all? pls, help me help her..she'd tried almost everything but still left her in despair..sensible and useful infos only please...thanks..

I need some help here...?
i totally understand how your friend feels.

it's going to be difficult to make her perfect because none of us are perfect.

we look at magazines and models and think we need to look like that to be attractive.

i have psoriasis and its bad!

i used to cover up in summer sweating for the sake of what other people will say.

now i don't bother, i wear what i want and let them look.

i hope with your support your friend will realise that she is beautiful with or without her imperfections x
Reply:hey try lemon juice and glycerine for dat dark underarms.does she have dandruff if she does then maybe its becos of dat theres acne on her top back .or becos she sweats she has these two probes.stretch marks are usually due to sudden weight lose.she cud use some make up creams to hide them .i dont know much but just thought i cud help
Reply:use polysporin

maybe?...
Reply:Ive had the same problem with the acne on my back and shoulders...I didn't wear a bathing suit for over 3 years...couldn't even wear a tank top with out a sweater over it.....but finally, as embarrassed as i was i went to the beach in a bathing suit....and the only thing that helped my skin...was the sun....it really dried it out and gave me a nice tan and you couldn't even see the acne that was once there...I'm not sure what to do for the dark skin under her arms....besides skin bleaching which you can buy inexpensively at any store....grocery store...drug store ...beauty store.....for the bikini area and stretch marks I can only say to wear something that covers that area...that's what i do...if i go to the beach in a bathing suit i wear shorts and i just leave them on...makes me feel more comfortable that way...hope this helps her in some aspects :o) have a great summer.
Reply:in good chemists you can buy lightening cream my sister uses it because she has skin pigmentation on her face (dark skin areas ).

she has this on her face and this stuff works !

also she uses fake tan as then the dark areas are more hidden than usual which could be a good home remedy to do .

the acne scars can also help these back scars if they are dark if not fake tan , might not take them away but hide them a great deal .

stretch marks are also well hidden by a suntan or fake tan also Avon do a cream for stretch marks and it works and also good value for money .

why not make her up a pamper kit and help her one night over a bottle of wine , tell her she is who she is and even if she doesn't like her flaws its part of her and who she is , and without them she wouldn't be as great as she is ..

good luck I'm sure you will soon have her looking great !

I think I'm pregnant!!! I really don't wanna be but I've got a Murena and we haven't realy been careful.......

b/c its so effective and has been in the past but I've had some lower cramping and I dont have a period b/c of the birth control so I can't tell that way, food doesn't taste good anymore, my hair gets oily and i'm tired all the time, we're getting married in sept so i can't be pregnant, has anyone gotten prego with an IUD or know anything about them?

I think I'm pregnant!!! I really don't wanna be but I've got a Murena and we haven't realy been careful.......
You need to take a test and find out asap .. denial isn't going to get you anywhere and the IUD can cause major problems for the baby if not removed. The sooner you find out if you are, the better.
Reply:Well your symptoms can mean other things and could be from the Mirena. My cousin just had a baby in result of Mirena. I read that 1 out of a 100 get pregnant from IUDs and that the can get knocked out of place during intercourse.
Reply:my friend has the Mirena. she's gotten pregnant %26amp; miscarried 3 times. get checked out by your dr. it's possible to get pregnant, but you are more likely to miscarry.
Reply:Call your dr. right away!

You could be pregant, and if you are the IUD can kill the baby, or cause you more complications.

I know a woman who got pregant with an IUD and because of the location of the baby the IUD could not be removed and after carrying the baby for 4.5 mo. the IUD punctured the bag of waters and her baby died. Not to mention the horrible pain it caused her.

I'm not a big fan of this method of BC. However I've gotten preg. on the patch and using condoms. both healty kids.

SO call your dr.

Hope you feel better soon.
Reply:I know someone who is a product of and IUD. They call him the one percenter... it's rare but can happen. Take a test, thats the only way to know for sure.
Reply:The only 100% effective b/c is abstinence. Your IUC may have slipped or be infected. Talk to your Gyno and go to the mirena website. Craps are a common side effect. Although Mirena is usually recommended for women who already have had a child. You could be just coming down with some bug, that would explain the appetite loss and the fatigue. It is best to see your Gyno, if you are pregnant, you need to get the IUC removed.
Reply:Go for blood test.................
Reply:hmmm have you taken a test yet?

any bc method isn't 100% effective, it's always possible. Take a test!

1) An electrical circuit is made of a transformer and a light bulb

The resistance of the bulb is 2 , whereas the effective voltage of the ac source is 200 V. The primary coil has 2000 turns, whereas the secondary coil has 200 turns.

a) Calculate the maximum value of the ac voltage available from ac source

b) Calculate the effective value of the ac voltage available from the secondary coil

c) Calculate the effective current through the bulb

d) What is the power lost in the bulb?

The electric power in the secondary coil is assumed to come fully from the electric power obtained by the primary coil

e) Using the above statement, what is the power through the primary coil

f) What is the electric current through the primary circuit?

The circuit breaker is set to switch off the electric power at a current in the primary circuit of 0.5 A.

g) Is the circuit breaker going to switch the power off?

h) The bulb is internally short-circuited and the resistance inside of the bulb becomes 0.2 . Following the above steps, calculate the power through the bulb and the current in the primary circuit. Is the breaker switch off?

Answer this if you can?
What the other guy said
Reply:bulb is 2 ohms?

a) transformer has 200 volts on primary, and 20 volts on secondary

b) 20 volts

c) assume 2 ohm bulb is connected to the secondary (you didn't say), current is 20/2 or 10 amps.

d) power dissipated in the bulb is 20*10 or 200 watts. Most of this is probably lost.

e) 200 watts also

f) 1 amp

g) yes

h) 0.2 ohms and 20 volts is 100 amps. which is 2000 watts. The primary will see 10 amps. breaker is off.

When a natural monopoly exists, it is?

b. never cost effective for one firm to produce the product.

c. always cost effective for two or more private firms to produce the product.

d. never cost effective for two or more private firms to produce the product.

When a natural monopoly exists, it is?
This is a definitional question. D is the answer.

A "natural monopoly" exists when a single firm can produce a given good or service more cost-efficiently than two or more firms.

Irregular periods and??

I have periods maybe 2-3 times a year so my doctor prescribed medroxyprogesterone to start my period so i can start b/c a week after because u need a period before b/c can be effective. I never went through with that and a year later I askd another doctor telling her that I want to be pregnant but she said I need to start b/c to regulate periods first, but she never prescribed the medroxyprogesterone to start my period first.... WHY? isnt she supposed to? can i take b/c before I actually have my period...AND IMPORANT!! B/c regulates periods but does it have anything to do with ovulation

Irregular periods and??
The doctor is treating the symptoms not the problem.....she/he most likely just wants you to go away. I did the birth control for 6 months thing and had break through bleeding the whole time...At the end of 6 months not a dang thing had changed.....it took me three years after that to get pregnant and I lost that one at 12 weeks and another three years after that to get pregnant with my son. If you actually want help with getting pregnant you should probably try a fertility specialist.
Reply:idk. Im only in sixth grade and just started my period. And I dont plan on having sex anytime soon.
Reply:These are questions you must ask your doctor. But I can tell your right off the bat that that has nothing to do with ovulation. Progesterone is going to cause you to have a period. The reason is: An ovulating woman produces progesterone - progesterone is produced by the corpus luteum (where the egg was released from the ovary) on average 14 days. When the corpus luteum stops producing progesterone you will have a period. The reason she is prescribing progesterone is to mimic this in your body. It has nothing to do with ovulation. A drug Clomid, an anti-estrogen is generally prescribed for inducing ovulation.

Is consuming Green tea good for health? What are its health benefits ?

Green tea has increasingly become a very popular drink worldwide because of its immensely powerful health benefits. It is extraordinarily amazing what green tea can do for your health. And if you're not drinking 3 to 4 cups of green tea today, you're definitely NOT doing your health a big favor. Here Are The 25 Reasons Why

You Should Start Drinking Green Tea Right Now:

1. Green Tea and Cancer

Green tea helps reduce the risk of cancer. The antioxidant in green tea is 100 times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times better than vitamin E. This helps your body at protecting cells from damage believed to be linked to cancer.

2. Green Tea and Heart Disease

Green tea helps prevent heart disease and stroke by lowering the level of cholesterol. Even after the heart attack, it prevents cell deaths and speeds up the recovery of heart cells.

Is consuming Green tea good for health? What are its health benefits ?
side effects or interactions:

Green tea is generally free of side effects. The most common adverse effects reported from consuming large amounts (several cups per day) of green tea are insomnia, anxiety, and other symptoms caused by the caffeine content in the herb.

An extract of green tea taken by healthy women with a meal inhibited the absorption of non-heme iron (e.g., the form of iron in plant foods) by 26%.34 Frequent use of green tea could, in theory, promote the development of iron deficiency in susceptible individuals.

There are several case reports of people developing liver damage while consuming weight-loss products that contained concentrated extracts of green tea.35 A cause–effect relationship was not proven, and most of the products contained other ingredients in addition to green tea extract. Nevertheless, researchers have cautioned against the use of large amounts, or concentrated extracts, of green tea.
Reply:Thanks for Bringing this to our knowledge

I think I will take your advise seriously and migrate to Green in moderation
Reply:i always knew green tea was beneficial to your health, but i did not know just how good it was, thanks for your information, i do drink it regularly, but i will drink it much more now......it tastes nice too!
Reply:I have heard that drinking green tea is good for health in some health magazines, but not sure of their benefits.

But I got very good information from your list. Thanks.

Which of the following can dramatically improve your grade on a essay?
e. All of the above

Reply:E. All of the above.

although most teachers probably do not want to collect your outline, it will help you organize your ideas.

Effective thesis's are always good to have or else you have a crappy paper.

Rewriting your essay always brings up new ideas and things you could have left out or need to remove to improve your paper.

If your not interested in the topic then you probably are not going to like the essay and going to do poorly on it anyways. So if you can choose to write on a topic you are interested in jump for that opportunity.
Reply:b

You usually don't need to provide your instructor with an outline. The outline is what you do for yourself as a preliminary step.

Rewriting is a fundamental step in creating your finished product.

Interesting is a subjective term.

But when you choose an effective thesis sentence, you intrigue the reader from the beginning and you provide a quick idea of exactly what you intend for the reader to know.

This is something a teacher looks for.

How do you hint to a guy that you like them to test the waters? What is a response that they do like you?

Theres a guy I really like, but I think he has no clue I like him. If anything I think hes gotten the impression that I just want to be friends. How can I change that impression and how can I tell how he feels? We are both very friendly people so the typical "looking in their eyes", "remembering details",... aren't effective signs b/c we both do that with everyone. I don't want to just ask him b/c I think it could possibly take him by complete suprise and make a really awkward situation. Especially since we will have most of our classes together the rest of college. Thanks for any advice.

Physical Chemistry Problem (Atkin's Physical Chemistry P7.36)?

Suppose that an iron catalyst at a particular manufacturing plant produces ammonia in the most cost-effective manner at 450 C when the pressure is such that deltaG for the reaction 1/2 N2 (g) + 3/2 H2 (g) --%26gt; NH3 (g) is equal to -500 Jmol^-1. (A) What is the pressure needed? (B) Now suppose that a new catalyst is developed that is most cost-effective at 400 C when the pressure gives the same value of deltaG. What pressure is needed when the new catalyst is used? What are the advantages of the new catalyst? Assume that (i) all gases are perfect gases or that (ii) all gases are van der Walls gases. Isotherms of deltaG(T,p) in the pressure range 100 atm %26lt; p %26lt; 400 atm are needed to derive the answer. (c) Do the isotherms you plotted confirm Le Chatelier's principle concerning the response of equilibrium changes in the temperature and pressure?

The reactions given are of course equilibria, and not linear reactions. You will probably need to use

[dG = -RTlnK]

(just take dG to mean Delta G). Since you're given dG and T and know R, you can find lnK and hence K. Now, they want you to solve for a pressure. In general, K is an equilibrium, where you would use K = [c/][a][c]. This is a GAS PHASE reaction, so instead of a conventional "concentration", you'll use partial pressures.

The equilibrium you want is [P_NH3] / [P_H][P_N2]. Since all of these are presumably at the same pressure, your equilibrium constant will presumably reduce to just one pressure, the one you want for your reaction.

The "new catalyst" will not give you any fundamentally new reaction, and it won'g change your delta G's or your delta H's or delta S's. What it WILL do, however, is at any given conditions, give you a MORE FAVORABLE EQUIBRIUM, or value for K.

At this point I'll have to remind you I've been out of college for about a year and haven't dealt with the likes of PChem in about 4 years, but I hope that should be enough info to get you started. Best of luck.

Could I be pregnant?

Ok here's the deal: Today is Wednesday and the Friday before last I had basicly unprotected sex (Because I was taking pills from Dr. that made my b/c non effective and also the condom broke I am not sure if he came inside of me but I know that sperm comes out the whole time during sex) So it was not intentional unprotected sex. This past weekend I took 2 hpts (negative) but I am sure it is too soon to tell even though my period is due today. Monday I was spotting brownish blood and also on Tuesday just a very light amount on each day. Not sure what today will bring but I plan to take another test probably this coming weekend whether I get my normal period or not. If I am pregnant I do want the baby eventhough I was not planning for this to happen. Sunday I slept ALL day for no apparent reason I have been feeling a little nauseas and my nipples are a little tender and my lower back hurts sometimes right after I wake up. Normally I have no symptoms of PMS so I don't know what to think.

Could I be pregnant?
i would say definitely go to the doctors. even if you have your period you can be pregnant.
Reply:It sounds pretty improbable, but who knows, a test should be pretty accurate now, so perhaps get another one.
Reply:just see a doctor or take another test later. But if you get your period then you are definately not preg-o
Reply:Well did you do it?

did he squirt?

no condom?

probably pregnant then.
Reply:jus buy a pregnancy kit n test it . oh yarh ! what is a gynaelogist for ??

C-remarkably effective in its hung for heretics because no one expected it

D-an organization whose purpose was to increase the political power of the catholic church

An effort to find out who put two scoops of raisins in Raisin Brand.

g-day!
Reply:all of the above...and more, considering that Jesuits were a considerable political and military power.

Reply:and what, pray tell, do i get if i answer this correctly? brownie points? a pat on the head? am i to believe this is or was a question on your world history quiz? apparently you didn't get it right or else you wouldn't have asked. the best of the bunch would be 'a' but you could also select 'd' as the church solidified it's power by ridding itself of all those 'others' who, the church felt, undermined it's overall structure %26amp; power.
Reply:A, unless it is a Monty Python quiz, when C is the correct answer.
Reply:A - The purpose of the Spanish Inquisition was to discover and punish converted Jews (and later Muslims) who were insincere.

Inquisition - Latin inquirere, to look to.

I. The Suppression of Heresy during the first twelve Christian centuries;

II. The Suppression of Heresy by the Institution known as the Inquisition under its several forms:

(A) The Inquisition of the Middle Ages;

(B) The Inquisition in Spain;

(C) The Holy Office at Rome.
Reply:It is either A, B, or C, but not D
Reply:A
Reply:A.

There were several Inquisitions: the Italian, the French, the Spanish, the German, Roman, and Swedish.

Church and State were not seperate during the Holy Inquisition, so your religion was your politics and taken very seriously. The sheriff could hang you for sedetion and the priest could burn you for heresy!

The main purpose of the Holy Inquisition was counter-reformation. The protestant reformation was a major threat to the Holy Catholic Church and those protestant heretics had to have their souls saved. This is true of all the Holy Inquisitions.
Reply:A. Uncovering heretics. Guaranteed!

Anyone out there work for the Red Cross?

My question is do you know how effectively they screen for diseases in the blood? I know the tests for HIV and hep C are effective because they use NAT but what about hepititis b. Does the hep b test really work? Is it the same one or better than you would get at a doctor's office?

Anyone out there work for the Red Cross?
Christina, please don't post the same questions more than once.

6 Slogans here?
isn't 10 for the top answer?

it's your homework- you do it. we're only here to assist in providing feedback- not completing the assignments
Reply:Each one of these slogans is saying, "We're the BEST!" They are applealing to the wants and desires of the human mind AND heart. Keep slogans short/simple so they can be remembered easily. Effective? Only if they are repeated on tv/radio over and over and over and over and over and over again! ha! Good luck!

Moseley's experiment-where he bombarded transitional metals with electrons and measured the energy of photon.

This experiment showed an increase in the energy as atomic number increased. This periodic trend is due to:

a) increasing electron affinity

b) decreasing atomic radius

c) increasing effective nuclear charge

d) increasing electronegativity

Moseley's experiment-where he bombarded transitional metals with electrons and measured the energy of photon.
Your question doesn't make perfect sense. So I'm assuming tha the question part is referring to the energy ejected as photons.

A is wrong since electron affinity is basically the same as electronegativity and as such does not follow a trend that increase with increasing atomic number. Same for D. (trend goes to F)

Atoms do not generally get smaller as they go up in atomic number so b is wrong. (Again trend goes to F)

Therefore the answer must be C. Whicg is true. The nuclear charge does increase as atomic number increases.

Just wondering??

How many people got pregnant using a condom and no other type of b/c. how effective are condoms

Just wondering??
Condoms are 99% effective when used properly. I think that in the general population, condoms are closer to 85% efffective like the otther answerer said. Condoms can break for example, or have small perforations, etc and semen could get through.
Reply:condoms break... nothing is 100% effective unless you just don't have sex. I have a little cousin that was just born as a result of a broken condom...
Reply:I got pregnant with my first using a condom. My second I was on birth control.
Reply:I think condoms are supposed to be effective to the high 90% or so (maybe 97 or 98) However, keep in mind that they are also only as effective as their user. If guy or gal doesn't know how to use it properly, your effectiveness % decreases drastically.

Birth control question?

When you're on birth control and take antibiotics i know that it makes the effectiveness of b/c weak or doesnt work at all...I was just wondering for how long does it make it not work..or when will my b/c be effective again..

Birth control question?
I am on the pill and I wait until my next cycle of pills starts. I think you are to wait a week after the medication but not sure.
Reply:You are supposed to use backup for 7 days after taking antibiotics.
Reply:As long as you are taking antibiotics your birth control will be affected. Antibiotics usually clear out from your system after not taking them for a few days - in the mean time use condoms!
Reply:You will need to re-start with the counting for effectiveness once the antibiotics are finished. For example, if your pill takes 7 days to be effective, it will be 7 days from the day you finish your antibiotics.

Financial Questions (Part 2)...need assistance.?
Far better to consult your textbook, fellow classmates, or even teacher rather than try to get answers to your homework here. For one thing, you're more likely to fulfill the purpose of education - learning - by figuring out and/or discussing how to arrive at the solution instead of getting somebody to just tell you the answer. On top of that, why would you trust an unknown person who is not studying the material you are to give you the correct answer? Too likely they will give you wrong answer.

Reply:You again? Now that I have seen both sections, I think they are not looking for right or wrong answers. More so, they are looking at the general pattern of behavior and whether you are consistent. All of the 6 questions are designed to find out whether you are a listener with patience that is required for conflict resolution or impulsive and inconsistent instead. They are not looking for right or wrong answers. The worse thing you can do is to jump around in your answers. It shows unpredictability. All the 6 questions are part of the conflict resolution skill set and can all be effective.
