Reply:and what, pray tell, do i get if i answer this correctly? brownie points? a pat on the head? am i to believe this is or was a question on your world history quiz? apparently you didn't get it right or else you wouldn't have asked. the best of the bunch would be 'a' but you could also select 'd' as the church solidified it's power by ridding itself of all those 'others' who, the church felt, undermined it's overall structure %26amp; power.
Reply:A, unless it is a Monty Python quiz, when C is the correct answer.

There were several Inquisitions: the Italian, the French, the Spanish, the German, Roman, and Swedish.

Church and State were not seperate during the Holy Inquisition, so your religion was your politics and taken very seriously. The sheriff could hang you for sedetion and the priest could burn you for heresy!

The main purpose of the Holy Inquisition was counter-reformation. The protestant reformation was a major threat to the Holy Catholic Church and those protestant heretics had to have their souls saved. This is true of all the Holy Inquisitions.
