Answer this if you can?

1) An electrical circuit is made of a transformer and a light bulb

The resistance of the bulb is 2 , whereas the effective voltage of the ac source is 200 V. The primary coil has 2000 turns, whereas the secondary coil has 200 turns.

a) Calculate the maximum value of the ac voltage available from ac source

b) Calculate the effective value of the ac voltage available from the secondary coil

c) Calculate the effective current through the bulb

d) What is the power lost in the bulb?

The electric power in the secondary coil is assumed to come fully from the electric power obtained by the primary coil

e) Using the above statement, what is the power through the primary coil

f) What is the electric current through the primary circuit?

The circuit breaker is set to switch off the electric power at a current in the primary circuit of 0.5 A.

g) Is the circuit breaker going to switch the power off?

h) The bulb is internally short-circuited and the resistance inside of the bulb becomes 0.2 . Following the above steps, calculate the power through the bulb and the current in the primary circuit. Is the breaker switch off?

What the other guy said
Reply:bulb is 2 ohms?

a) transformer has 200 volts on primary, and 20 volts on secondary

b) 20 volts

c) assume 2 ohm bulb is connected to the secondary (you didn't say), current is 20/2 or 10 amps.

d) power dissipated in the bulb is 20*10 or 200 watts. Most of this is probably lost.

e) 200 watts also

f) 1 amp

g) yes

h) 0.2 ohms and 20 volts is 100 amps. which is 2000 watts. The primary will see 10 amps. breaker is off.
