Exfoliate and moisturize!
Reply:Moisturize!
Reply:You can try a lotion called Fade Milk, it helps to clear up dark spots and blemishes. I think it's available at your local store or you can try drugstore.com
Reply:no scrubbing.. friction only causes skin to darken more..

use a good skin lightening cream;

works well for dark knees and elbows. :-)
Reply:scrub and use lotion everyday. dont use a very rough exfoliater. it might hurt you
Reply:there are so many ways to prevent your skin to become smother and whiter you can scrub your elbow with calamansi, or try to apply some lotion.

The Loved One is one of my favorite books, you should read it for fun sometime.

If spanking teaches a child to be reactive instead of proactive why use it in child rearing at all?

The pressures of today's world are quite different than when I was growing up. I see kids really needing to develop skill sets to become healthy, productive, and law-abiding citizens of this country. More and more they need to be able to learn to think for themselves. We as parents need to give them really good tools in order to be able to do this. They need a) critical thinking skills b)creative problem solving abilities C) effective communication skills, particularly effective listening. In short, the world has become increasingly more competetive. We are short-changing are kids by using simplistic methods of child rearing like spanking. WE are not helping thm be ready for what's to come.

I'm not an advocate of corporal punishment to begin with, but I feel even more strongly about it with today's children.

Kids need to be taught how to think, not what to think.

I'm also a firm believer in the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People", by Stephen Covey

If spanking teaches a child to be reactive instead of proactive why use it in child rearing at all?
I agree 110%!!

Spanking doesn't teach anything. Any kind of discipline can and will be effective if consistent. These parents just do what their parents did. It's a never ending cycle of abuse. The excuse "My parents did it and I'm okay." is getting old. I think parents should really reach out and think about what they are doing instead of just going the easy route.

People think that everyone who doesn't believe in spanking agrees with Dr. Spock. Guess what? I do not. I do not agree with most things Dr. Sears does. I am a strong willed parent and stubborn--it's my way or the high way. Does that mean I have to hit my child to get the point across? No. It means I give my children other sources of discipline.

Why does spanking "work?" I believe it works because that is the only consistent thing that parents use. If a child is used to being hit and is scared of that then they'll laugh when you put them in time out. There are far to many great resources out there to get tips for children--young children on discipline. You have to start young this way kids learn from a young age when what "no" means.

Good question!
Reply:Vato and Hutch gave me great answers. Hutch I'm in agreement with your answer also. If I had a choice you would be a close runner up (9 points). I strongly beleive in being positive. Report It

Reply:Beating and spanking are two different things, I was Beat as a child jus because mom's havin a bad day. Give kids choices and let them understand that if thier decision is not positive then there are consequences (just like if mom and dad don't pay the cable bill you'll have no cartoons) just for example. Kids can grasp this as early as two years old with simple tasks such as if they don't finish their cheerios they can't play with their favorite car or watch their favorite movie. Now, I don't believe in corpral punishment either but I do spank my son or put him in time out. Y? Compare a kid that has choices vs punishment and see which one is emotionally stronger, the one that had choices is going to be emotionally more stable because he know that for every action there is a reaction and if that action is bad, then the reaction is going to be right behind it. Now I DO belive that some kids just don't respond to raising your voice and 'the look' and thats because some kids don't respond to anything but a spanking. That is my son, I can yell, I can speak in a normal tone, I can get mad as a hornet, but he's 2 and he's learning his limits and how far is too far and thats normal development. He knows that if he squeezes his juice box all over mommy's table the consequence it going to be a firm spank and he will clean it up himself (with help of course), but he's learning to be responsible even if its just little stuff. But thats jus tmy personal opinion. Older kids are harder because they've already learned to think the way they ahve and in order to change that you have to reverse the training they've already had. A beaten kid will most likely respond better to a beating but it doesn't mean he NEEDS to be beat. It means you have to find another way to get through to him. I'm not really sure if this was a question or if youre looking for opinions on child rearing but thats my opinion, for what its worth
Reply:All I have to say is this: Dr. Spock started the no spanking era and guess what? HIS CHILD COMMITED SUICIDE. Does it work? Up to you.
Reply:It all depends on how your spank. I disagree in that, my girls think long and hard before they break one of our core rules, why?? because a spanking is waiting on the other end should they try. I don't know how it is for you, but for us, spanking is NOT a short term solution. I have rarely spanked for the same thing twice, but i can't say that about the other methods. What does all that mean, well in our home spanking has it's place, just as time outs, taking privileges away, positive reinforcement........ We don't just spank and leave it at that, there is a lot of communication, teaching which goes on. We have a very strong family, and I wouldn't change anything we currently do to risk that. If your methods are working good for you then GREAT. Ours do to.

Good Luck
Reply:I am a strong believer in "reality discipline." It is a parent's responsibility to raise children who can function in society when they become adults. When our children are grown, they will be expected to exercise good judgement and self control. Why would we train them one way (by spanking) when, as adults they would be punished in an entirely different manner (financially or with jail time)? And as to time outs, I've worked in child care, and I can say that this almost never works. So the punishment should fit the crime. If my daughter calls names, she needs to find 10 nice things to say about the person. If she broke her friend's toy, she should buy her a new one out of her allowance. If she makes a mess, she cleans it up. If she refuses to clean it up, her belongings are taken away from her until she can respect and care for them. However, there is one instance where I believe spanking is necessary. When a young child who is incapable of understanding the consequences of their behavior is doing or about to do something that would physically endanger themselves or someone else (touching the fireplace, swinging scissors, or playing at the top of stairs, for example), a spanking is a vivid picture to them that what they are doing is dangerous.
Reply:Actually we health care providers and psychologists do not recommend the use of spanking. It is a punishment and we do not believe it is good one of the many reasons Nurses will not say its ok to spank because where is the line that you can draw so the parent knows its too much. You can't. Also spanking a child for doing somethign bad negitively reenforces bad behavior. For instance if the child wants attention he is bad you spank him. The child does somethign good ntohing happens. Next day the child want attention again he thinks oh well why not be bad that way i will get attention. Positive reenforcement for good behaviors is the best way to go about raising a child.
Reply:The "world" is changing? Who cares about "the world" -- have you ever thought of a completely different approach? Teach by precept AND by EXAMPLE. G i v e of yourself. Accept that YOU don't know it all and try raising them uprightly before God. I guess it's more difficult to teach something we don't HAVE. Would you like to "learn it all" and maybe pass a law that we should raise them 'your' way or just have your way taught in all the schools so we'd all be smart like you. Are we grouping a disapproving

swat on the knee braced rear of a 2 or 3 year old followed with love unfeigned with a drunk walloping the back of a 14 year old with a bull whip?
Reply:Philosophy aside, the truth is that corporal punishment works and little else does.

I dont get it..HELPZZZZZ!?

On July 15, A, owner of a hardwares store, sends a letter to B offering to sell his store, business inventory and good will for total price of $150,000. B sends a letter to A on July 20, accepting the offer n agreeing to buy the business for $150,000. A receives B's letter of acceptance on July 22. B acceptance is A. effective when mailed on July 20 B. invalid as a counteroffer C. effective when received on July 22 D. none of above

AFTER sending the letter, A received an offer of $175,000 FOR HIS BUSINESS. As a result, he sends a letter to B on July 19 revoking his offer. B receives the letter on July 21. The revocation

a. Is effective when mailed on July 19

b. terminated the offer prior to B acceptance

c. is effective when received on July 21, n doen't terminate the offer which been accepted

d. none above

I dont get it..HELPZZZZZ!?
Common law governed contract follow the mail box rule. As such, an acceptance of a non-output/requirement k is effective upon deposit into the mail. Therefore, any revocation after the point of mailing is a breach.

Second, a revocation is effective upon receipt by offeree. Therefore, the July 19 revocation is not effective.
Reply:look up the "mailbox" rule in your materials. Some things are effective when mailed and some are effective when recieved.
Reply:Read Gano's Commercial Law at the link below.
Reply:This is so hypothetical. You need to read the text book associated with the class you must be taking.

The letters ought to be checked by a lawyer to make sure no loopholes in how phrased, and they ought to be sent certified mail so there is no doubt when sent and when received.
Reply:In reality it doesn't matter. The person selling the buisness has the right to cancel any such transaction until the title/deed is signed and out of their hand. But if this is for a class my guess would be A but you should look in your book. It most likely is taken straight out of the book to force you to read the chapter.

I want to learn Perl, I havnt learned any languages. Should I directly jump to Perl or start with C?

From where can I learn that? Is there any free tutorials avilable? Please specify the ste address... Are they really effective??

I want to learn Perl, I havnt learned any languages. Should I directly jump to Perl or start with C?
perl is a great language... I learned by reading example, and downloading perl modules and reading them. No particular site google (at the time I used altavista) should be a great start!

all the perl modules that are worth using in general application are at http://cpan.org

google has 'code search' to search for code samples in any language!

that's the good new... BUT (and there is always a but)...

Perl is not a great language to learn first. There is no reason not to also learn javascript along with it!

Python, Ruby, Perl 6, Javascript, and some others are the future.

Perl has a legacy of BAD CODE. In the old perl 4 days, it was a sloppy mess. Perl 5 gave use some structure and perl 6 cleans up alot of sloppyness.

C is not a great language (c++ or objective C is better)

You can get your feet wet in perl and javascript very quickly.

Any language can be written poorly, but it's extra easy in perl!
Reply:Learn Python. It's far superior to Perl.
Reply:i prefer either java or maybe vb.net...and it also depends on what your trying to do...because php is also a hot web programming language
Reply:I Would Lear C First Because Its Easy To Read For People And Computers (Don't Take The Name Of The Books As An Insult).

http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesT...

Then Take A Look Into Perl.

http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesT...
Reply:If you've never programmed before in your life, you need to start by learning structure %26amp; syntax. I suggest Basic or VB to start. From there, you will have a much better idea of what it takes to program in REAL languages.
Reply:PERL is very programmer friendly language its easy and most effective even its used for server related automating task. What u need how u solve the problem perl u provide all things u need.

Happy learning.
Reply:I'd start with Perl as opposed to C, although for me it was the opposite. C is much more in-depth, it has a steeper learning curve.

I suggest a scripted language (Perl, Python, Ruby) as your first language; once you get the hang of variables, conditionals, and control structures, you'll be ready to move to C.

As for books, check out O'Reilly, the 'Learning Perl' book (aka Camel Book) is one of the best.

After you learn some Perl, check check out C/C++. Java and C# are based on the same syntax as C/C++, so jumping around will be easy at that point.

Happy coding!
Reply:Programming is basically involved a logic. If you want to learn pearl it's ok. No need to learn C or VB etc. to go into it.

Hello 2 all my question is that what is the best algo for making a calculator in C++ shortest?

and most effective

Hello 2 all my question is that what is the best algo for making a calculator in C++ shortest?
What you are talking about is not an algorithm, but in fact a complete program. Time to get coding!!!
Reply:the shortest way is to cheat! by that I mean you could do a number parser and a subroutine for each operation.. and call the right routines.... but that's hardly short

short would be to find a module that can evaluate a string of numbers and expressions and return the value!

"1+2+3" = 6

most languages have this kind of thing built in... c++ may not!

If you write that function first... you can use it along the way to see what the current value is.

it can simplify the program.

Need advice on the best workout plan after having a baby by c-section (12 weeks ago).?

Could someone tell me what would be the most effective and quickest way to lose weight and tone up in the the gym after a baby. Currently do 20 mins on crosstrainer and 20 on Bike have lost some weight but not realy sure what else i should be doing.

Need advice on the best workout plan after having a baby by c-section (12 weeks ago).?
I had a c-section and cardio is the best start, but you have to add strength training to get a good tone while you slim down. Pilates is great for strengthening your core and improving posture. Also add some light weight lifting to firm your arms, back, and chest area. Depending on the condition of your lower body squats, lunges, and leg lifts may be helpful. I have gone from a size 12 to a 4/6, but it takes dedication and consistence.

Good Luck!!!
Reply:after having a c section and your abdominals cut through they will be very weak. something like pilates will help tone and flatten your stomach and increase your core stability. eat a healthy balanced diet, lots of cardiovascular work like what you are doing
Reply:Don't rely on the gym, unless you live there.

There are several conflicting demands on your body at the moment, mainly:

your new regime around caring for your baby,

your recovery from major surgery (yes, a caesarian is...),

the healthy 'recovery' from being pregnant.

You need to be moving, for as much of the time as possible (all three processes are going on 24/7), to promote blood circulation, and the conversion of nutrients.

However, you need to be working as GENTLY as possible (to spare energy for all of the other processes. If you try to do too much, you will rob one or more of these processes (eg feeding or etc) of the time and fuel that they need), at the same time.

The 'MOST EFFECTIVE' way to lose weight is: SLOWLY !

(It also applies to toning up, but for different reasons)

The 'QUICKEST' tone-up or weight-loss methods are also the most dangerous and least reliable.

You could add to your schedule, but try to select gentle stuff like T'ai Chi or Swimming (don't do lengths in the lanes; or if you must do lengths, use Recovery Backstroke).

Pelvic Floor ('Kegel'), Breathing and Meditation exercises will help more than gymwork for the time being, and your activity levels will naturally increase as the surgery and the shock of your new lifestyle wear off.

Most of all, try to enjoy being a mum, and ignore all the pressure to be 'back up to speed' too quickly.

Congratulations and LOL

What's the best treatment for vaginal malignant melanoma stage 2-c ?

I have a vaginal malignant melanoma. the tumor is 2.5 cm. with ulceration. I made a surgery where ovaries, uterus, the posterior wall of the vagian and the rectum where removed. my doctor said i am of high risk of recurrence. he told me there is no treatment available now except interferon and he is not really sure about its proficiency. the recommended dose he suggested is 3 million to be injected under the skin three times a week. Please help me if there are other treatments and ,if not, is the 3 million interferon dose effective or not. i did the surgery two months ago. no lymph nodes were affected. waiting for your replies. thanks everyone

What's the best treatment for vaginal malignant melanoma stage 2-c ?
There is no cure for cancer, only treatment (that may lead to cure) . . so the fact that you are doing so well right now is a positive sign.

It is difficult for people unfamiliar with this disease to give you any type of advice. The best thing is to locate a support group with patients who have the same disease and ask them these questions.

You can try two different email support groups at ACOR (Association of Cancer Online Resources):

Do you believe that peaceful protests such as marches in Washington and in local Cities are effective?

Demonstrations and marches in Washington D.C. and around the country to protest the war in Iraq, The WTO, environmental policies, gay rights, and other causes are becoming at least as common now as they were in the 1960s. The right to assembly and free speech are basic liberties granted in our constitution. But I'm curious about whether all of you out there feel that this type of civil action (I am only refering to peaceful demonstrations not violent ones) has any ability to affect either how our legislators vote or public discourse and opinion.

Do you believe that peaceful protests such as marches in Washington and in local Cities are effective?
Yes, I think public assembly does influence those in office. How effective it is would have much to do with which legislators in particular and how much media coverage there is. These days I think it would be more effective to run TV ads, but that can't always be arranged.
Reply:It really just shows the public and the politicians the large number of people who support this cause and that. But they're really just a chance to get a cause out in the open, or on the news.
Reply:No. If the Powers-That-Be listened to the people, one wouldn't have to march in the street....
Reply:I've participated in four very large marches in Washington, also four big protest rallies in NYC, and well over two dozen in my own community. I am convinced that the main effect is that it gives spook agencies practice in violating our rights and infiltrating our organizations. The law should allow (but of course never will) that uncovered spooks may have their own lives spied on by the people they spied on. As to whether any of these actions have changed the government's actions or policies, yes, but only EXTREMELY slowly. Part of the problem is that everyone in govt is totally arrogant and convinced whatever they (or those who bought them) want is ordained by God.
Reply:if they occur all over and not just in D.C.; if they happen often enough ; in large numbers enough and on the front stairs of each and every politician from the top to the bottom from coast to coast and border to border; then we will have their attention
Reply:Only in raising the awareness of those out there.

Without a solution to the mess out there.

What do you think?

Why not try and knock with YA for some answers?

Instead of standing under the hot sun all day long with all the drinks from own pockets.
Reply:Those peaceful protests at least call the attention of the public and the government officials to the issues they are crying about.
Reply:I don't think so. To me they are rather sad. I see the same faces in the crowd that were there during the Vietnam War. Their hair is gray now, but they seem to have on the same "casual" attire as then. To me they are caught in some sort of time warp. Even sadder is that they all seem cloaked in their version of the truth and any attempts to challenge it is derided as not having merit or coming from the mind and lips of someone is not "enlightened". I can recall during Vietnam when I inquired why someone was marching and he replied with a sneer: "You've obviously never read Thoureau's Essay on Civil Disobedience!". I said that I had read that work and asked if he had ever read Thuycidides' History of the Peloponnesian Wars. He looked absolutely shocked that someone like me could be familiar with the works of Thoureau.

The demonstrations against the WTO are really laughable because you look at the crowd that's so concerned about the effect on the third world of the WTO's policies and you won't find one person of color in the group.

It is that elitist attitude that the "masses" have to be "elevated" by the demonstrators that is the most galling to me. The speakers at these things are preaching to the choir. Woe be unto anyone who tries to speak other than the party line. What a pity. Fascists wearing Birkenstocks.
Reply:Large demonstrations are media events and have little impact on the rest of us.

If you want to help your community, then join church volunteers or recognized organizations like the Red Cross or the United Way.

Cheers !
Reply:Yes is the short answer.

Politicians react to public opinion especially if they think that enough people will be outraged and that might effect their chances for reelection.
Reply:The only protests that work are at the voting booth and at the check out line.

How and where you spend your money and who you vote into office makes the most difference.
Reply:I think that these protests make people feel better about themselves, but all to often people think that protesting alone is enough. Politicians will only make the desired change when protesters start voting and unseating politicians that do not accurately and appropriately represent their constituents. So by all means, protest, but don't forget to vote as well, or your protests will mean nothing...

On a side note, I wish protesters would at least make an effort to be somewhat mainstream, the message is often lost when it comes from the mouth of a unshaven, unkempt, and unclean person wearing a "pot-leaf" T shirt...
Reply:I think a lot of people see most protesters as a bunch of professional s***t disturbers who have nothing better to do because they don't seem to have jobs.

And wasn't that basically true of hippies in the sixties?

As was already mentioned: voting and boycotting are more effective. And sending thousands of protest letters to politicians sends a message also.

Violent protests only produce cracked skulls.

Is it ok for my partner to release sperm (or "c**") inside of me while i'm taking birth control pills?

i am not sure if it's safe. i've only taken the pills for about 3 weeks now. i just want to be sure that it will be effective to prevent pregnancy

Is it ok for my partner to release sperm (or "c**") inside of me while i'm taking birth control pills?
Safe. But you could still use a condom to be sure and to protect yourself from STD's
Reply:I would ask your doctor cause it depends on your birth control and the pill doesn't prevent aganst STD and the pill doesn't always work so just have the guy wear a condom!!!!!!! To be safe but keep in mind a condom doesn't always work.
Reply:my doc. told me one full month without missing a single day of taking it
Reply:your doctor should have told you this... The pill is not effective until a full month of taking it. The pill is not 100% effective anyway so wear a condom regardless... Better yet, don't have sex... Do you really need it? lol
Reply:You're supposed to still use a secondary form of birth control for the first month but nothing is 100% except abstinence!
Reply:if u use ur pills right then its ok...but why dont u use condoms to?

have u both been tested? but i think u should always use a condom..that why u wont get nothing or why do u want him to *** inside u? do u like the feeling of it or somthing..but use condoms also
Reply:It should be ok, but you should still have the guy wear a condom to prevent getting any diseases %26amp; as extra protection against pregnancy. If you're not taking your bc correctly or are taking antibiotics, you could get pregnant.
Reply:Nothings 100%, but the pill is pretty damn close, as long as you're taking it properly. I imagine after a month or so, maybe even a few weeks, your body has adjusted to the pill enough to keep you prenancy free. I would'nt quote me on it, this is just coming from what I've gathered in life knowledge. As embarassing as it can be, ask your doc if you want the straight up facts, they're the professionals.
Reply:use an alt. method of BC (like condoms) for about a couple more weeks then you should be fine. I've been on the patch and haven't use any other form of BC and have been fine. i've been on it for almost 3 yrs. and haven't had a problem yet. but all body's are different, so i'd say wait and don't smoke while on the pill b/c it reduces it's affect. hope i was of help :)
Reply:Birth control pills are the most effective means but neither are they 100% foolproof- in preventing pregnancy. Any fluid from the male entering the vagina can cause a pregnancy. Discuss with your doctor also the morning after pill it may be more accurate am not 100% sure why these kind of questions should be directed to expert-your gynocologist.
Reply:wait a full menstrual cycle then it's ok. that's the point of taking the pill.
Reply:wait a least a month then its safe,
Reply:you know that even with birth control pills there is still a chance you can get pregnant right? It's okay, but children have been conceived while the woman was taking the pill. Wait until you have taken at least one month's worth of pills. And even then, be knowledgable about this stuff.
Reply:yes, I think so. personality I like the depo shot. the first time I got the shot I asked the doc when I coud safely have sex and she said as soon as I got home. I'm not sure of the % of the pill, but no birth control (except not having sex) is 100%
Reply:Give it a month for the pills to start working otherwise i wouldnt ley him until you both get tested unless you want STDs

What is the major difference between Betnovate-N and Betnovate-C cream?

Which one of these is effective in removing dark spots from the skin?

What is the major difference between Betnovate-N and Betnovate-C cream?
Betnovate-N is what you use when you have an itchy vagina.

and

Betnovate-C is what you use when you have an itchy asshole.
Reply:neither remove dark spots!!!

they r effective in treating fungal and bacterial infectons

betnovite-N:This medicine contains two active ingredients, betamethasone valerate and neomycin sulphate.

Betamethasone is a type of medicine called a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are medicines used for reducing inflammation.

Neomycin sulphate is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside type. It works by entering bacterial cells and interfering with the production of proteins that the bacteria need to divide and multiply. This rapidly kills the bacteria. Neomycin is included in this preparation to kill the bacteria that sometimes infect inflammatory skin diseases.

Betnovate-C:This medicine contains two active ingredients, betamethasone valerate and clioquinol.

Clioquinol is an antibacterial agent that is effective against both mild bacterial and mild fungal infections.
Reply:Betnovate-N is Betamethasone Valerate with Neomycin whereas Betnovate-C is Betamethasone with Clioquinol. Both are creams. The latter cream is more effective. Please consult any good dermatologist because there is no single reason for the appearance of dark spots on the skin.

Please HELP!! My cats have pretty bad mange. Need home remedy known to be safe and effective for cats! Thanks.

Recently became aware that my cats itching was not b/c of fleas (tons of treatment) but from mange mites! I cannot afford a trip to the vet and am also weary of chemicals used to treat mites. I have found a number of mite remedies but all have been for dogs with no side notes indicating they are safe for cats. Please help if you have any information or experience.

Diet alone can treat mange. Mites are best treated from the inside out. Try a raw diet or switch to Wellness brand wet food with added vitamin C, E, zinc, and lecithin.

The chinese herb astragalus and echinacea.

There's a natural skin tonic, but it's lemon and cats aren't crazy about citrus. It's pretty diluted though, you could try it:

Thinnly slice a whole lemon, including the peel. Add it to 1 pint of near boiling water and let it steep overnight. The next day, sponge the solution on the animals skin and let it dry.

Homeopathic: Sulpher (the element) 6C 2X a day for a week to ten days.

Good Luck!

Are you happy using the sponge as your primary b/c method?

I'm thinking of switching, and I'm interested in finding out others' experiences. Do you find them difficult to remove? Effective?

Are you happy using the sponge as your primary b/c method?
www.google.com has a great deal of information that you could use to find your answers , while yahoo answer is more likely to be better for people's opinions.. thanks.

Should they only teach abstinence only programs in schools and do you feel they are effective?

The Government funds alot of taxpayers $ on abstinance-only program and they leave out important information such as AIDS and std's. In fact, Bush has tripled the their funding and left comprehenseive sex education very little funding and support. This leaves most public schools who have an increase in teenage pregnancy only teach them the abstinence program b/c this is the only thing Bush funds for and this program has shown that is very ineffective and isn't teaching safe sex practices, nor preventing teenage pregnancy. The rise of STD'S AND AIDS among young people is a serious problem and there has got to be something they are not teaching properly in school and among parents aswell. Comprehensive programs talk about the importance of protecting yourself and and also the important personal choice of abstinance.

Should they only teach abstinence only programs in schools and do you feel they are effective?
my 2 cents is that, abstinence only needn't be taught.

kids for whom it will work already know it.

and it's a complete waste of money for the rest.

this isn't a case of "what you don't know won't hurt you".
Reply:I got the sex talk at school in the 5th and 6th grade as well as in middle school....where they spoke of abstinance, sex, the pill, condoms, and many other perventive materials for HIV and AIDS. I don't think it takes much more than that and I went to a school with very little funding. there are many teenage pregnancies....but it is not for lack of teaching. I believe it is more a lack of paying attention and wanting to know.I know more funding will help....but we don't need too many props....just the correct words and an attentive student.maybe teachers just need to catch the students attention.
Reply:Jessica - abstinence works supported by education %26amp; family.
Reply:who said it was the governments responsibility to teach kids about sex to begin with? its not that im against it being taught in schools, im for it, actually. i just think its so sad that parents are putting this on the school system. dont you think that if PARENTS stood up and took responsibility for their children's actions pregnancy and stds amoung high school and younger children would be dramatically reduced? people need to keep an eye on their child and know what they are doing. they need to SPEAK to their kids and know what is going on in their kinds lives. the key in instilling proper morals and values in todays youth as well as teaching them. i think this is way more than just something concerning the president, this involves FAMILY, clearly that is a lost concept in america today.

Cats are very sensitive and can die from toxic shock quickly. Dog and cats medications can differ, they NEED a vet, how do you know for curtain, you need to scrape the skin, us an oil and look under a microscope and even then you might not see them and what kind do they have???? I'm sorry but you can check with your local humane society and see if they can help or know of a vet tat will. Best of luck
Reply:Borrow money, use a credit card or contact the humane society or a local shelter who might help. Either way, they need to go to the vet. Do not have pets if you can not afford medical care for them. It's not fair to the animals.
Reply:Mange is critter on your cat. Any thing that smothers the mite will work, mineral oil, fish oil, mayonnaise, petroleum jelly . Your cat will be oily and ugly for a while but it will kill the mites and if they get to dirty a bath and more oil.
Reply:my vet always said cats don't get mange so be sure that's what they have.I don't know of any mange medicines for cats. they could have allergies, try changing their food, also the flea treatment could cause a reaction.I have used a lemon rinse on my cats with no bad reactions, cut up a lemon in some water, bring to a boil remove from heat and let sit over night before sponging on them, have used this with dogs with mange also along with vitamins and found it helped. good luck.
Reply:My suggestion (because one of my cats had the same problem) is to go online to DrsFosterandSmith. They are online veternarians and I use their products almost exclusively. They are reasonably priced and have products and, also online chat with one of the veternarians if you have any questions.

How many days do you really have to take the pill before it is effective?

I've started a new pill after having a week and half break from a mini pill.

I started it on Thursday and my bf and I had sex last night but he didn't c*m.

I've heard different things from different people and on different sites about 4 days, 7 days, 28 days etc.

When I went on Microgynon 30, I was told 7 days.

Im now on Cilest which is similar (combined pill). When we had sex I had just taken my 5th pill.

Close enough to avoid pregnancy if it is 7 days?

How many days do you really have to take the pill before it is effective?
Usually, it is suggested that you use alternative protection as well as your pill, for 28 days, i.e. a complete cycle (including your period), to be on the safe side. It's quite some time since I was on the pill; and old bag like me doesn't need to now! (I'm in my 40's, thank you very much.......), but it's always better to be safe than sorry!

Your partner hasn't actually got to "c..e" for you to get pregnant either; some fluids are released, (and I'm trying to be very diplomatic and polite here; they'd ban me from this site if I put in writing how I'd normally say it!), prior to actual ejaculation, and they do contain sperm! Sperms, ovaries, eggs; hello, BABIES! That is why the "Withdrawal Method" of contraception is not a good idea! Ask any families whose religeous beliefs etc., prevent them using any other form of birth control, why most of them have such large families!!!!!

Until you are sure of your new pill etc., the best forms of contraception are either keeping your legs crossed; telling him no or not bloody likely, or, failing that, cooling his ardour (and that is said "tongue in cheek"), with a slap, (but not too hard), on his "bits"!

I may be in my 40's, but, yes, I've still got a good s.x life (without the worries of babies appearing), and, hopefully, a good sense of humour whilst being able to advise or help someone if I can.

Try not to worry too much; you'll probably be ok, but, you can't really throw caution to the wind when there is the possiblity of another life being involved!

Christine (An Old, but humerous, Old Bat)!
Reply:My obgyn stands by "thirty days of perfect pill." That is taking the pill for thirty days exactly how you are supposed to take it for it to be 99% effective. Some say one week, but she told me that after a week of "perfect pill" it's really only 70% effective. That is, 3 out of 10 women who have unprotected sex after the first week of taking the pill will become pregnant. Not a statistic I want to risk being.

Remember if you miss a pill after the first month you need to use another backup method of birth control for a week. That is missing one all together, and being over twelve hours late with it. If you are twelve hours (or later) taking it, consider it a missed pill and use backup for a week.

If you are up to twelve hours late taking it, you need to use a backup method for three days.

No exceptions because taking the pill late or missing a pill considerably drops the effectiveness and you are at high risk for unintended pregnancy.

Anyway, wait a month and take your pills correctly and you will be fine.

Good luck!
Reply:I'm on cilest, you need to take it for at least 7 days before you are protected! My doctor told me 7 days. So if you took it on your 5th day.. then you're not protected. It doesn't matter if it's NEAR 7 days, you haven't been taking it for more than 7 days, so you aren't protected. You need to give your body time to get used to the pill. I don't want to scare you or anything, I'm just giving you the facts.

Oh and even though your boyfriend didnt ejaculate, there is still a chance of pregnancy. Even though you are on the pill, it is always advised to also use a condom for double protection.
Reply:Lots of people say 7 days, but it's best if you wait an entire cycle to be sure. Even if you do, you're not completely safe. Tell your bf to buy some rainjackets if his little man wants to come out and play.

My cousin had her second child, by c-section. and told them to tie her tubes. they said they did now she prego

she have been complaining for a while about feeling sick. she just found out yesterday that she is pregnant, but the er couldn't tell her how far along she was. her doctor said that with the new procedure used with tying tubes after csection is pretty effective. so how could this happen. her doctor also mentioned something about part of it being taken out. so im just putting this out here to see if anyone else have had a similar experience

My cousin had her second child, by c-section. and told them to tie her tubes. they said they did now she prego
THIS COULD HAPPEN BECAUSE OF A COUPLE THINGS. ONE THING IF THEY JUST TIED THE TUBE THE TIE IS NOT PERMANT. NO.2 IF THE CUT THE TUBES AND DID NOT BEND THEM BACK AND TIE THEN KEEPING THE ENDS FROM GETTING BACK TOGETHER THEY COULD POSIBLY GROW BACK TOGETHER AND PRESTO SHE GOT A LITTLE ONE ON THE WAY
Reply:I have known a couple of people who had babies after having their tubees "tied." I does happen.
Reply:it is possible my mom's friend got pregnant after about 10yrs and her tubes were tied.

mine is laser-ed, which is irreversible and it's been 4yrs and still going (thank God) but I read in a magazine that and lady was laser-ed and still got pregnant
Reply:It happens, many babies come from situations just like this. I hope they are somewhat happy or perhaps really happy. Its a gift.

Can I have unprotected sex while on B.C. if antibiotics I took made my period come early?

I took antibiotics from June 12-June 26 for a sinus infection. This caused my period to come about two weeks early. I am now off the antibiotics and am no longer on my period and have two pills left in this cycle of "on" pills until my period is expected (though since it came early I'm not expecting it). What I am wondering is whether if I have sex with my boyfriend -- no condom -- is my birth control going to be as active/effective as if I had never taken the antibiotics and my period had not come early?

I REPEAT: I am NO LONGER on antibiotics (it's been nearly a week since I took the last one) and am on my "on" birth control pills.

Can I have unprotected sex while on B.C. if antibiotics I took made my period come early?
I believe that you need to wait until you start the next active pills before you can have sex without added protection. I would call the doctor to be sure, but I think that it's the timing of the pills that you need to worry about instead of your cycle. You may also get a second light period this month.
Reply:The best way to know you're protected is to wait until you and your boyfriend are married.
Reply:You should be fine but...for extra protection, why not use a condom too.
Reply:Yes you can. An early period means there was interaction with the antibiotics, but no more antibiotics means no more interaction and the protection becomes normal again. Take your pills everyday and forget none.
Reply:it is recommended that you use a backup for the time you are on the antibiotics plus the 7 days after...however some also recommend you use backup for that whole cycle of pills.
Reply:You need to continue to use a back up form of contraceptive such as condoms while you are taking antibiotics and until you have had seven days in a row of active pills AFTER the last antibiotic tablet. If the seven days would take you onto your hormone-free sugar pills then you need to start a new pack of active pills instead of taking the sugar pills.

The antibiotics prevent the hormones from being absorbed properly, so the level of hormones in your body drops, triggering breakthrough bleeding. You will have more bleeding when you take the sugar pills (if you take them this month.) You would have less chance of pregnancy if you skip your period by starting a new pack instead of taking the sugar pills this month.
