Does anything other than SSRI's/ antidepressants help PMDD symptoms?

I can't take that crap b/c SSRI's are NOT effective %26amp; I suffer from other mental illnesses as well. Any1 know any "natural" or alternative ways to STOP the GD demon from attacking me %26amp; making mine %26amp; my friends/family's life a living hell. PMS should NOT last 2 weeks. Correct?

Does anything other than SSRI's/ antidepressants help PMDD symptoms?
To get the best possible advice, you should seek out a good herbalist in your region. They can take a full case history and find out exactly what is going on for you.

In the meantime, St John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) is as effective as Prozac for some depression, so worth a try. Also SAMe can help. Also fish oil - 6,000-10,000mg daily. I'd also recommend doing a lot of liver work - liver is implicated in both depression and hormone imbalances. Start by having a large glass of hot water with the juice of half a lemon every morning first thing. Cut out meat - especially chicken, dairy, alcohol, coffee, sugar and processed foods. Eat lots of fresh fruit and veg, nuts and legumes. Drink lots of clean water. You can add lemon juice or mint to make it more palatable.

Make sure you get good quality sleep, and try and do things, or mix with people who make you laugh. (See a funny movie - anything to make you laugh)

I know how awful it is to be in that state, and hope this can help you. All the best
Reply:You should look into YAZ a brand new low dose birth control pill which specifically addresses PMDD here is the site check it out what I have heard is that it is awesome for PMDD symptoms.

Reply:I feel for you. I have a severe case of PMDD myself, it came about after having a really bad case of PPD (postpartum depression) after my daughter was born. I had been on many meds for the PPD, but none of them helped at all with the PMDD.

I did have luck with Yaz. I know that you don't want to hear it, but it just MIGHT be promising to you. Not all bcp's affect women in the same way. It's always worth a shot. I'm no longer on any meds other than the Yaz and an occasional Ativan.

I wish you all the best, I hope that you are able to find something to relieve your PMDD symptoms. My symptoms start at ovulation time and end at around the time that my period begins.
