Inducing and Ginger tea, I have two questions?

Hi, my first question is, what are the chances of an medically induced labor ending on a c-section? and second how effective is ginger tea to kick start labor? I'm 40 weeks today and schedule to be induced on the 5th if i dont go into labor on my on. Thanks

Anxiously waiting to meet my son

I'm pretty sure your chances of a C-section after being induced are going to be about the same as if you went into labor naturally. However, babies who are induced, sometimes have more issues- because they're either breech, or by the time their induced, their heads too big- it's going to depend on your body, too. I had a friend who's Dr. let her go 15 days past her due date and she delivered a 10lb. 15oz. baby boy- vaginally. -My little girl came on her own 2 days early. But, both of my sons were induced. All 3 were born vaginally (and with no problems, at all). Like I said, it's going to depend on your body and your baby. I wouldn't worry about it, though. One way or another your baby's going to come out! : ) Good luck!
Reply:Ginger tea won't induce your labor unless it is "wild ginger" tea. Ginger and wild ginger are not the same plant.
Reply:I don't know about ginger tea, however, my midwife (who is wonderful) had me use drops of blue cohosh tincture to gently get things going when I was late. When my labor seemed to be going nowhere, she added a small bit of castor oil. Boy, did that do the trick. I don't recall the dosages. You should do research before using any of these and talk to your doctor.
